The story begins with Eliza trying to sell flowers to rich people while it is raining. There she ends up finding Higgins and a couple of days later she asks him to teach her to speak properly. He reluctantly agrees and she eventually learns how to speak properly. She goes to the big dance with the king and runs away from Higgins after the dance is over.
